Data Collection

I collect data such as names, contact details and family history information in order to provide genealogical research services.

Contact details are used for the purposes of communication regarding research enquiries and updating on research requested or commissioned. These details may also be kept for record keeping and accounting purposes.

I do not disclose information to anyone else except potentially in cases of criminal investigation. Contact details will not be used for newsletters or general marketing emails.

Data Storage

Data is stored securely on password protected devices, password protected encrypted cloud storage and/or in locked cabinets.

Data Retainment

In order to comply with HMRC rules, I keep financial accounts and items relating to these for up to six years. These may contain clients’ names and contact details.

I retain digital copies of client reports indefinitely due to clients requesting follow-up work.

Email communications will be held for one year. In the case of clients, this will be one year from the completion of the research.
